LED Coving

LED coving hides a strip light behind a cornice, so the light washes up across the ceiling with no fittings on show. Ours is MDF, made in our Epsom workshop in the same profiles as our standard cornices.

Fix it to the wall about 30 mm below the ceiling, leaving a gap for the light to escape. Fit the LED strip to the wall first, following the strip maker's instructions, then fit the cornice over it and mitre the corners. We supply the cornice only, so you can choose the strip, colour and brightness that suit the room.

LED Coving FAQ

The common questions, answered — so you order the right profile first time.

What is LED coving?

LED coving is a cornice fitted a little below the ceiling with an LED strip hidden behind it. The light shines up through the gap and spreads across the ceiling, giving soft, indirect light with no bulbs or fittings on show.

Is LED coving a good idea?

It adds soft background light to a living room, bedroom or hallway without extra ceiling fittings. With the lights off, it still finishes the line between wall and ceiling like any other cornice.

How do you install LED coving?

Fit the LED strip to the wall first, following the strip maker's instructions. Then fix the cornice to the wall about 30 mm below the ceiling, using fixings suited to your wall, so it hides the strip and leaves a gap for the light. Mitre the corners as you would with any cornice.

Do you supply the LED strip?

No, we supply the cornice only. Buy the LED strip and its power supply separately, so you can pick the colour and brightness you want.

Why choose MDF LED coving over polystyrene?

Ours is MDF, made in the same profiles as our standard cornices, so the LED coving in one room can match the cornice in the rest of the house. It is primed or unprimed to order and painted like the rest of your woodwork.
