Moulds Overview

What Is In This Range

This page lists everything we make, which is useful when you are specifying a whole property rather than shopping for one item. It covers:

  • Skirting boards and skirting cover boards. Full replacement profiles, and cover boards that fit over existing skirting without ripping it out.
  • Architraves and architrave covers. Door and window surrounds in matching profiles.
  • Dado rails and picture rails. Horizontal wall mouldings at chair height and just below ceiling height.
  • Panel moulds and beading. The smaller sections used to build panelled walls.
  • Cornices and coving. Wall to ceiling mouldings.

Choosing By Material Range

The Range filter is the one worth understanding before you order, because it changes how the product is made and fitted:

  • MDF. The standard range. Moisture resistant grade, factory primed, cuts and fixes like timber but with no knots or grain to work around.
  • Flexible. For curved walls, bay windows and rounded stair halls. Supplied straight and shaped on site with a heat gun, then holds the curve permanently once cool.
  • Fire Rated. Euroclass B rated MDF for HMOs, communal areas and other regulated environments.
  • Cover. Boards designed to fit over existing skirting or architrave, for refurbishments where removal is not practical.
  • Timber. Softwood and hardwood profiles, for stained and natural finishes where MDF is not suitable.

Matching Profiles Across A Room

Profile names repeat across categories on purpose. A Torus skirting board, Torus architrave, Torus dado rail and Torus picture rail all share the same detail line, so a whole room can be specified on one profile and read as a single scheme rather than four separate decisions. The same applies across the material ranges: the flexible version of a profile is cut to match its rigid counterpart, so a bay window and the straight wall beside it finish identically.

Moulds FAQ

The common questions, answered — so you order the right profile first time.

In the timber trade the two words are used interchangeably for the same thing: a length of shaped timber or MDF used as an interior trim. You will see both on this site and across the industry. Nothing here relates to casting moulds.

Most rooms need skirting at floor level and architrave around the doors and windows as a minimum. Add a dado rail at chair height if you want to protect the wall or split the decoration, a picture rail below the ceiling if you want to hang artwork without fixings in the plaster, and cornice where the wall meets the ceiling. Panel moulds and beading are what you use if you are building panelled walls.

Standard MDF is the default and suits almost every domestic installation. Flexible MDF is for curved surfaces, supplied straight and shaped on site with a heat gun. Fire rated MDF is Euroclass B rated and is specified where building regulations require it, typically HMOs, communal corridors and commercial premises. The profiles are the same across all three, so you can mix them within one property.

Measure the linear metres you are covering, then add roughly ten per cent for cuts and wastage. Each product page has a calculator that does this for you and accounts for how that particular profile is installed. If the room is awkward, call us on 01372 740777 and we will work it out with you.

UK delivery is 5 to 7 working days. Every length is machined to order, so the lead time covers manufacture as well as transit. The delivery charge is calculated at checkout and depends on your location.
